💀 to your burning FAQs

📌 First things first

A few of us at Bonsai Bar sat down to update the FAQs and quickly realized... the answer to most of your burning questions is: it depends.

With over 100 venues in the mix, each one has its own vibe—from outdoor beer gardens in New Orleans and swanky spots in New York City to quiet country breweries, and more than one that might just be haunted. When in doubt, check the venue’s website or reach out to them directly about parking, policies, concessions or any quirks before booking your class.

Easy Questions

If you can't find your tree care card it's here on the TREE CARE page. Print a copy for the fridge or tape it to your Bonsai's Pot!

Our classes are 120 minutes long. You are seated for the duration of the class.

🍻 Breweries and distilleries have been awesome partners—turns out, tiny trees and tasty booze are a match made in bonsai heaven. They’ve usually got space to spare and are always down for a good time (and good programming). You’ll also catch us popping up at wineries, cafes, and grills—basically anywhere with tables, drinks, and a slight disregard for how messy potting soil can get.

Nope! Even our most typical ‘brewery’ venues often offer a range of wines, other alcoholic drinks, seltzers, sodas, non-alcoholic & snacks! Many of our venues have full kitchens, so it's a good idea to check the venue’s website ahead of class. Just don't come hangry. You can't bonsai hangry.

Nope! That is a violation of the venue’s license and very inappropriate. Please don’t do that.

🍷 Nope! Before locking in your venue, check their website to see what they’re pouring. Some breweries have full bar licenses and serve wine, cocktails, maybe even a mysterious house-made elixir. Others are strictly beer-and-vibes only. It all depends on the venue—and the state (the legal kind, not your emotional one). Check before you sip!

🎟️ Your ticket covers the important stuff—like your very own baby tree and all the tools you need to become its proud plant parent.

Food and drinks? That’s between you and the venue. Nothing edible is included (unless you’re really hungry -- Our Dwarf Jade Plants are edible!) Check the venue’s website to see if they’ve got a food menu, food truck, or just good vibes and pretzels.

✂️ Nope, no need to bring a thing—we’ve got you covered, including dangerously satisfying scissors.

Just show up ready to trim tiny trees and feel powerful.

You will be encouraged to get your hands in the dirt, but you shouldn’t get anything above the wrist! Nothing you can’t take care of in the bathroom sink. That said, there will be dirt present at your table, being dug and then cleared away, so maybe don’t wear anything you aren’t comfortable taking a risk on.

Well, it depends—some venues are a little more "Shh, we’re Zen!" while others are more "Let’s make Bonsai AND GROOVE BABY!" We do our best to create the ideal learning environment, no matter the decibel level.

And don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with helpful tools like whiteboards and a digital guide, so whether you’re a "read it" or "see it" learner, you’ll leave with a tree (and maybe a little less sanity).

♿ If you require accommodations or modifications, and you are worried about how this might go at class, please reach out in advance of the class and let us know. We'd love to hear from you.

A flat-bottom container (cardboard box) or a flat-bottomed reusable grocery tote that you don’t mind getting a few stones in. If you're taking public transit home you'll be glad to have a carrier.

More complicated questions

Depends how good your kid is with REALLY SHARP scissors, and if your little wiggler will be able to sit still and be very quiet for 2 hours. If not, we’d suggest a night out for yourself, and recreating the event at home with our DIY-kit.

Yes! Since our events are ticketed, young adult tree-lovers under 21 are welcome to attend our events! We recommend our workshops for ages 12 and up; our instructors may not use the cleanest language, so bring your (ticketed) young person at your discretion. 🙉

Because our venues give us a limited number of seats (and we can’t fit a bonsai forest in the room), we require that everyone be ticketed and work on their own tree.

Yes! For our private Teambuilder events, we will go almost anywhere you can bring a big group! Offices, community centers, or your own backyard. We love doing Corporate Events and can do these at your workplace. Reach out to learn more, get pricing and our fancy brochure.
