First things first...
The Bonsai Bar crew sat down to update the FAQs and quickly realized... the answer to most of your burning questions is: it depends.
With over 100 venues in the mix, each one has its own vibe - from outdoor beer gardens in New Orleans, to swanky spots in New York City, to quiet country breweries. When in doubt, check the venueβs website or reach out to them directly about parking, policies, concessions or any quirks before booking your class.
Frequently Asked Questions
Your mileage will vary, but its likely every 2-3 days. If you can't find your tree care card, it's here on the tree care page, along with a video demonstration! Print a copy of the care card for the fridge.
Our classes are 2 hr (120 minutes) long. You are seated for the duration of the class.
They aren't! Breweries are where we started, and have been awesome partners. Theyβve usually got space to spare and are always down for a good time). Youβll also catch us popping up at wineries, cafes, and grills - basically anywhere with tables, drinks, space to move around, and a good attitude about a little dirt on the floor.
Nope! Even our most typical βbreweryβ venues often offer a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and most serve food! Many of our venues have full kitchens, so it's a good idea to check the venueβs website ahead of class. Just don't come hangry.
Nope! Please order something from our lovely host venue's menu.
Nope! Before locking in your venue, check their website to see what theyβre pouring. Some breweries have full bar licenses and serve wine, cocktails, and more. Others are strictly beer-and-vibes only. It all depends on the venue. Check before you sip!

Food and drink? Thatβs between you and the venue. Check the venueβs website to see if theyβve got a food menu, food truck, or just good vibes and pretzels.
Nope, no need to bring a thingβweβve got you covered.
Just show up ready to pot and design your tree and have a good time.
You will be encouraged to get your hands in the dirt, but you shouldnβt get anything above the wrist! Nothing you canβt take care of in the bathroom sink.
That said, there will be dirt present at your table, being dug and then cleared away, so maybe donβt wear anything you arenβt comfortable taking a risk on.
This varies widely with the venue, the day of the week, and just day to day. Some days are louder than others. We do our best to create the ideal learning environment, no matter the decibel level.
And donβt worry, weβve got you covered with helpful tools like whiteboards and a digital guide, so whether youβre a "read it" or "see it" learner, youβll leave with a tree (and maybe a little less sanity).
βΏ If you require accommodations or modifications, and you are worried about how this might go at class, please reach out in advance of the class and let us know. We'd love to hear from you.
If you are concerned about venue accessibility, please reach out to the venue.
A flat-bottom container (cardboard box) or a flat-bottomed reusable grocery tote is a perfect solution. We especially recommend coming prepared if you are taking public transit home.
More complicated questions
In order to participate in the workshop, you need a ticket, the motor skills to handle pointy, adult-size scissors, and your little wiggler will need to to sit still and listen for 2 hours. This isn't a great fit for the smallest participants! We recommend our workshops for ages 12 and up; our instructors may not use the cleanest language, so bring your (ticketed) young person at your discretion.
Weβd suggest planning a night out for yourself, and recreating the event at home with our DIY-kit.
Yes! Since our events are ticketed, young adult tree-lovers under 21 are welcome to attend our events! Preferably with an adult. We recommend our workshops for ages 12 and up; our instructors may not use the cleanest language, so bring your (ticketed) young person at your discretion.
Because our venues give us a limited number of seats (and we canβt fit a bonsai forest in the room), we require that everyone be ticketed and work on their own tree.
Yes! For our private events, we will go almost anywhere you can bring a group of ~20 or more! Community centers, a booked-out room in one of our partner venues, or your own backyard. We love doing corporate events, and can do these at your workplace. Reach out to learn more, to get pricing information.
