The Bonsai Bar Tree Guarantee
We guarantee your tree will live. If it doesn’t, we’ll help you figure out what went wrong and replace it for free.
Most people who try bonsai don’t succeed on their first attempt. Usually it isn’t their fault: the tree came from a big-box store, it was already in poor health, and it came with no instructions.
At Bonsai Bar, we want to be your partner as you learn to care for your new tree. And if something goes wrong, we’ve still got your back. If your tree dies, no matter the cause, we’ll help you figure out what happened and get you a new tree, because the key to mastering bonsai is learning from your mistakes and carrying on. Every tree from a Bonsai Bar workshop, a DIY kit, or a styled tree from our shop is covered, with no time limit.
How it works
- Register your tree. Use the link on your care card on the day of your Bonsai Bar workshop, or as soon as you can. Register your tree
- Book a Treeiage™ call if something looks off. It’s a short appointment with one of our teachers. Book it early, before your tree is gone, and we’ll try to bring it back. Book a Treeiage™ call
- Tell us what happened. If it’s too late to save, book a Treeiage™ call anyway. Show us your tree on the call if you can, since seeing it is the best way for us to work out what went wrong, but you don’t have to. We’ll talk it through so your next tree does even better.
- Pick up your replacement. At your Treeiage™ call, choose a Bonsai Bar workshop near you on a date that suits you, at least one week out, so we have time to get your tree ready. Arrive 15 to 30 minutes before the workshop starts. If you can’t make it to one of our workshop locations, we can ship a new tree to you (you would just cover the shipping fee).
What you get
A new tree, already potted and ready to take home. You don’t need to retake the workshop. We do the potting, and the styling is still all yours.
Your replacement is a beginner-friendly tree from what we have in stock locally, usually a Dwarf Jade or a Dwarf Umbrella. It may not be the same kind of tree you started with.
Why we do it
We believe everyone learning bonsai deserves a second chance, especially beginners. Our job is to bring new people into the hobby with confidence, not a fear of failing. Trees can be tricky, and one tough first attempt shouldn’t stop you from finding out how fun bonsai can be.
