Press and media information

We would be incredibly grateful if you would consider covering our story.

Bonsai Bar was founded with a simple yet powerful vision: to combine the calming, creative process of bonsai cultivation with a fun, educational experience that brings people together across generations. The goal was to make bonsai more accessible, not just as an art form but as a meaningful, hands-on activity that anyone can enjoy. At Bonsai Bar, visitors not only learn about the art of bonsai but also get the opportunity to cultivate their own tiny tree, guided by expert instructors.

Each experience at Bonsai Bar includes a brief lesson on bonsai care and techniques, where skilled teachers share their knowledge and passion for the craft.

With high-quality trees and tools provided for every participant, the experience is designed to ensure that both beginners and more seasoned enthusiasts leave with a deeper understanding of bonsai and the satisfaction of nurturing their own tree.

In addition to the bonsai experience, Bonsai Bar is committed to supporting local small businesses, particularly craft breweries, wineries, and distilleries. By offering a space where community engagement thrives, Bonsai Bar provides a welcoming environment where people of all ages can unwind, learn, and connect—whether they’re sipping a local brew or caring for their new bonsai tree.

With its blend of education, creativity, and support for local businesses, Bonsai Bar offers a wholesome, fun experience that appeals to people of all generations. Whether you’re looking to cultivate a new hobby or simply spend quality time with family and friends, Bonsai Bar makes it easy to connect with nature, nurture your own tree, and enjoy a sense of community.

Bonsai Bar Origin Story
Meet Tim

In 2021, as small breweries began slowly reopening their doors, Tim launched the solo project bonsai bar; traveling out to breweries after logging off as a computer programmer and leading small workshops on how to create your own bonsai tree— a hobby that he had recently become possessed by.

Tim recruited his brothers and friends to assist with the growing list of tasks. As more and more breweries booked bonsai events, it became clear that people were eager to connect with the natural world and each other, to get out and learn something new.

Four years later, there's now an 11-person team supporting beginner bonsai workshops across the United States. Presenlty we serve 12 states and 16 markets but this number will grow in 2025.

Tim Arsenault
CEO & Founder

“I’m excited to bring new energy and people into the world of bonsai! Bonsai Bar is just the most basic introduction into the world of bonsai and every class I see a spark in dozens of people’s eyes as they get really excited about this art. If we get just 2-3 people in a class to dive deeper into bonsai, that will flood the bonsai community in America with hundreds or thousands of new practitioners and change American bonsai for a generation!” -Tim Arsenault, CEO & Founder
